Nancy Stevenson, wife of the former senator and daughter-in-law of the two time Democratic candidate for U.S. President, said in a Pioneer Press article “Freedom of information is a huge issue. We’ve (the Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy in Libertyville) been making an effort to raise money for a real study on how people in democracies can be better informed.” This includes studies on how information flows in the modern era and presents new challenges.
“The way the media is now, it’s sort of broken into groups that follow certain causes. More people are likely to hear only their side. We need a much broader exposure to both sides…and to the gray area.”
