The Chicago Journalists Association mourns with Journalists worldwide the mass shooting attack at The Capital Gazette newspaper of #Annapolis, #Maryland.

Our thoughts and prayers are with family, friends and colleagues of the five Journalists slain: #GeraldFischman, 61, editorial page editor; #RobHiaasen, 59, assistant editor; #JohnMcNamara, 56, staff writer; #RebeccaSmith, 34, sales assistant; and #WendiWinters, 65, special publications; and with the injured, #RachelPacella and #JanetCooley.
This rare attack against U.S. journalists is heartbreaking, a reminder that Journalists everywhere work under great and ever-growing personal risk. Any attack on the Free Press in this nation is an attack on all of us.
We stand in great respect of the courageous Capital Gazette Newsroom, which continued the work of putting out a newspaper even in mourning. You make us proud. Today, Journalists everywhere are #CapitalGazette. We stand as one.
Sincerely,
Chicago Journalists Association Board of Directors
